About Company

Pallikkutam is the name of one of the Foundational Educational Legacies of India, that originated with the Buddhist Revolution in education, which liberated education in this part of the world from its caste-based exclusivism. Buddhist education was a totally inclusive, essentially secular, profoundly scientific, substantially liberal and truly international system.

The word Pallikkutam is derived from the Pali language, the language of Sree Buddha, from the roots: Palli, meaning “Buddhist Monasteries” and kootam, meaning “something attached to those monasteries”, namely “schools”.

Rajagiri Media Trust is committed to revive, preserve, and rejuvenate the legacy of Pallikkutams in India. We are inspired by the example of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, who made critical interventions in the education sector of the South Indian state of Kerala by promoting a movement to preserve the Pallikkutam educational legacy of the nation, by insisting that catholic parishes build such Pallikkutams attached to the churches, as a precondition for their official approval from the bishop. He championed this movement in the 19th century, almost a century before India attained her political freedom from the colonial rulers and asserted her sovereignty!

Pallikkutam Online School provides exciting learning activities based on a unique and futuristic pedagogy, named the Pallikkutam Pedagogy. Learning contents of these schools are aligned with the National Curriculum Framework, being developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training, the NCERT, from time to time. Rajagiri Media has developed four such Online Schools: 1) Playmate, for Preschoolers, 2) Companion for Junior Schoolers from standards 1 to 5, 3) Friend for Senior Schoolers from standards 5 to 10 and 4) Mentor for Pre-University students in standards 11 and 12. These online schools will also develop Weekly Learning Challenges, in which students of the entire nation could participate.
